Frequently Asked Questions
Skewl is redefining the kids’ school-going experience. It’s an intuitive mobile app for parents to plan, share and cheer kids school run experience.
Parents from the same school community can plan their daily school run using Skewl’s digital schedule planner. Our intelligent location-based search will help the parents to find the neighbours from their own school community. Parents can chat and agree on the school run, share days and pickup times. The details will be stored against the respective parent's profile. On the day of the shared school run, respective parents would be notified for them to participate and track their kid’s school run.
Our app facilitates an easy and persuasive registration process. Parents are being given multiple options to register on the app to make the registration quick. You can register by your social media identity or your preferred choice of email id
As soon one registers with the Skewl, we request the profile owner to onboard themselves and their children going to school by sharing a few key pieces of information.

No. Skewl only supports School run, for now. We might come up with other offerings based on your request.
Skewl defaults the rider’s house address as the pickup point. It’s up to both riders & volunteers to chat and agree upon a common meeting place for picking or dropping off (if required)
Skewl neither recommends nor stop riders’ legal guardians to join their school run, this depends on the Volunteer’s interest.
No. Shared school runs are free and do not expect any riders to pay their Volunteers for any Skewl service.
No. Skewl is FREE for both Volunteers & Riders.
Use Search functionality in Skewl to find available shared schools run from your neighbourhood.
Yes. Anybody could search for both Morning and Evening sessions within any time that is specified by the respective school.
As this is a free service, it is not fair to expect the volunteers to accept or reject the request within a time frame. But we request volunteers or rider’s parents to act on any trip request as soon as possible, at least a few hours before the actual trip start time.
One could raise a request any time before the start of the actual trip. We recommend rider parents give enough time for the volunteer to respond to their trip request.
Yes, you can book up to the next 10 working days.
Yes. Real-time tracking is Skewl's unique offering to our rider’s parents, this wouldn’t be possible without Volunteer’s allowing Skewl to track their GPS location. Kudos to our Volunteers!
No. We do not recommend turning off your GPS as it’s very key for Rider’s parent to track the trip and plan for their pickup
Yes. Both Volunteer & Rider’s parent can cancel their trip
We don’t restrict any users from cancelling their trips even at the last minute. But we do not recommend anybody to do that too. This pushes the rider’s parents to replan their school run at the last minute.
If a Volunteer does not accept the trip request for a long time (a few days) then the rider’s parent is expected to cancel their trip request and raise a different request with another volunteer from the search screen.
We recommend reaching out to the first volunteer through the chat option before cancelling the trip request. Also, it’s advisable to find a new volunteer and check if he /she is available to pick/drop off your child. Cancel the original trip request once you have confirmed with other volunteers.
No. It is not mandatory to have a Car to schedule a school run. We encourage alternative options such as Walking & cycling shared school runs.
For those using car, please make sure its legally fit to run on the road and fulfills UK legal criteria.
Most insurers state that car-sharing will not affect an individual's car insurance e.g. the Association of British Insurers clearly states that car sharing won't affect the insurance of their members so long as a profit isn't made: "As it’s not expected to make any profit or share the cost…
All ABI motor insurers have agreed that if your passengers contribute towards your running costs your insurance cover will not be affected, as long as lifts are given in a vehicle seating eight passengers or less. This agreement does not apply if you make a profit from payments received or if carrying passengers is your business." (Source: ABI 2012)
Over 300 insurance providers are members of the ABI, accounting for about 95% of the motor insurance market in the UK. Drivers with any concerns should check with their own insurance company as terms and conditions may vary between insurance providers over time.
Within the UK, Car seats are mandatory for those kids below 135cm in height. It’s up to the driver (Volunteer) to make sure there are sufficient car seats for their trips offered to others. Rider’s parents do play a vital role in helping their volunteers to be equipped. We leave this to our Rider’s parents & Volunteers to decide upon managing their kid’s car seat wisely.
